COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

An investigation is underway Friday morning after a fire at an apartment complex near central Columbia.

The Columbia Fire Department responded to the fire in the 1200 block of Larch Court around 6:15 a.m.

Firefighters at the scene said there were no injuries. Crews kept the fire contained to a room in one of the apartment units, according to CFD.

CFD says the building contained five units. Columbia Fire Department Captain Joey Simmons says the cold weather does bring one concern.

"For us, it's going to be if we're here for a long time. We would have to worry about the water that gets onto the streets, that we might have to put salt down and anything to that effect," Simmons said.

The cause of the fire and the amount of damage the fire caused is under investigation, according to the CFD.

ABC 17 News will update this story and newscasts once new details about the fire are released.
