New Resort in Osage beach could create hundreds of new jobs

OSAGE BEACH, Mo. (KMIZ)

The City of Osage Beach announced plans for a new resort in the area yesterday,

The submission plans were received on Thursday by the developers, SkyView Partners and Tegethoff Development, of St. Louis

The new resort is estimated to bring in 500 new jobs, and 50,000 new tourists to the area. In 2019, the Lake Area Chambers reported 3,948 tourist-related employees worked in Camden County. The increase would see the lake area employee roughly 4,500 employees.

Employees at local lake-area hotels declined to be interviewed, but some did say they have concerns about the new project.

Locals said they are currently struggling to staff their locations. They aren't sure how the new resort will be staffed.

Oasis at Lakeport will be the new $300 million family resort and entertainment district to be developed along the Lakeport property acquired by Big Thunder Marine in 2021 -- at Highway 54 and Jeffries Road, adjacent to the Grand Glaize Bridge.

Plans for the area include amusement rides and attractions, hotels, restaurants, an amphitheater, marina and boardwalk. Amusement offerings will include roller coasters, thrill and family rides and a 200-foot-tall observation wheel.

Construction is expected to break ground in 2023 and will open in summer 2024.
