Columbia police uncover woman’s body in closet following suspicious death investigation

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia man faces charges following a suspicious death investigation on Monday.

The Columbia Police Department released officers responded to the 1700 block of High Quest Drive around 3:40 p.m. after receiving a report of a missing person at risk. Police said officers at the scene found a woman's body hidden in a closet.

Evidence at the scene indicated the victim had been restrained and suffered from blunt force trauma to the head, according to a press release from CPD. Investigators are still working to identify the woman due to the severity of her injuries.

Police believe they know who the woman is but are waiting to release her name until more information is collected. The victim is being referred to as Jane Doe until the identification process is complete, according to the police department.

Officers later arrested 37-year-old Adam A. Conner for second-degree murder, armed criminal action, and tampering with physical evidence. At last check, the Boone County Prosecutor's Office hasn't filed charges against Conner.

Investigators cleared the scene on High Quest Drive Tuesday morning. A CPD spokesman said there is no threat to the community.
