Roots N Blues Festival preparations underway in Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Set up is underway Thursday as the Roots N Blues Festival returns to Columbia.

The festival is scheduled for Friday through Sunday at Stephens Lake Park. Gates open to guests Friday at 4 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, the festival will kick off each day at noon.

As of now, Roots N Blues organizers say they are in constant communication with local health officials to establish COVID-19 mitigation for the 2022 festival. However, During the 2021 Roots N Blues Festival, Organizers had to take multiple safety precautions due to Covid-19.

Roots N Blues is a three-day music and food festival. This year, the festival will feature nearly 30 different food and craft vendors, plus two dozen musical acts on two different stages.

The event was intended as a one-time community celebration but has been brought back due to a positive response.

To attend Roots N Blues, guests must purchase a wristband. The wristband acts like a ticket and digital wallet to make purchases at the festival. Guests are provided with directions about how to link a credit or debit card to the wristband.

One-day or weekend passes are available for purchase at the entry gate or at the box office located at 2300 E. Walnut St.

This year, Columbia's Parks and Recreation Department announced it will partner with festival organizers to give families vouchers to attend.
