Boy injured after being struck by vehicle in Camdenton

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Camdenton Police said a 12-year-old boy suffered head injuries Tuesday after he was hit by a truck.

The accident occurred at the intersection of South Business Route 5 and U.S. 54, police said in a press release.

A 74-year-old Camdenton man was turning onto U.S. 54 in his 2014 Chevrolet pickup truck. The driver said he stopped at a red light and drove when the light turned green, but did not see the boy crossing the road.

Two witnesses who were with the boy said he stopped at the roadway and thought it was OK for him to cross. Those two witnesses did not attempt to walk across the street.

The boy was treated at the scene by first responders before being transported to Lake Regional Health Systems. He was later sent to a medical facility in St. Louis for head injuries. The boy was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
