COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The power is back on for hundreds of Columbia Water & Light customers following an issue at a substation Friday morning.

The department posted to Twitter that a problem at the Hinkson Creek substation left nearly 3,000 customers without electricity. More specific details about the issue at the substation weren't immediately available.

A spokesperson said about 1,000 customers are still in the dark as of 7:25 a.m. Since the Twitter post, the department reports crews have restored the power to the remaining customers.

According to Water & Light, crews are working to find out what caused the power outage.
