GASCONADE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Eight members of a family were hurt Thursday morning after a head-on crash in Gasconade County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the crash on Highway 50 east of Fowler Road around 10:40 a.m.

Troopers said a transit van driven by Ashlee D. Nelson, 36, of Neosho, hit a semi-truck head-on after crossing the middle of the highway. Emergency crews flew Nelson, a 13-year-old boy, and a 4-year-old boy to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis with serious injuries.

A 7-year-old girl and 10-year-old boy were also taken by ambulance to the hospital with serious injuries. Troopers said three other children were taken to the hospital for minor to moderate injuries.

Everyone in the family was wearing a seat belt, according to the crash report.

The semi-truck driver wasn't hurt in the crash.
