Inflation remains high while gas prices drop

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Inflation is still working to average itself out, however national gas prices have now dropped below $4 a gallon for the first time since March of 2022, according to AAA.

The most recent AAA gas price map shows, the national average at $3.95 for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel and $3.54 for unleaded gallon of gas in Missouri.

AAA says ,market analysts attribute the nationwide drop to falling crude oil prices – sitting below $100 a barrel for nearly three weeks.

If you are in Mid-Missouri, gasbuddy.com shows the average price for regular unleaded gas in Columbia is about $3.74 a gallon.

In Jefferson City, travelers can get that same gallon for around $3.70.

While, premium fuel users are still above the $4 mark for both Jefferson City and Columbia drivers paying around $4.30 at the pump.

Although fuel prices are dropping, reports also show that food costs have increased a bit in the past month but are 10.9% higher than last year, the largest annual increase since May of 1979.

Thepennyhoarder.com says , drivers can save money on fuel by joining fuel reward programs or even by filling up earlier in the week.
