Amazon expects to bring more than 100 new jobs as facility opens in Ashland

ASHLAND, Mo. (KMIZ)

A new Amazon facility in Mid-Missouri is expected to bring dozens of new jobs.

The delivery station is located at 7055 Baldridge Ave. in Ashland. The facility will severe a 50-mile radius in Mid-Missouri. Amazon expects the facility to allow the company to deliver more packages to customers in the area.

The Ashland facility is the company's first one outside of the St. Louis and Kansas City areas.

Delivery stations are the final stops in Amazon's transportation network before a package is delivered to a customer.

At the facility in Ashland, workers will sort packages before being loaded into delivery vehicles.

"This is a historic moment as we are proud to open the first Amazon facility in the region, based in Ashland, and supporting Columbia, Jefferson City and the surrounding communities," said Operations Manager Bruce Bax. "Our delivery station will continue Amazon's mission to be the most customer-centric company, knowing we are serving our community, friends and family. We are opening with an amazing team and look forward to creating more great jobs as we grow."

Bax grew up in the area and graduated from Lincoln University.

The delivery station opened with 30 employees according to officials. Amazon expects the facility to create at least 100 jobs, with pay starting at $15 an hour.
