Jefferson City man accused of stealing Humvee from Missouri National Guard
COLE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Cole County Prosecutor's Office has filed a charge against a Jefferson City man accused of stealing a Humvee from the Missouri National Guard.
James R. Wilson, 36, is charged in Cole County with one felony count of first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle. Investigators found the stolen Missouri National Guard Humvee Monday morning outside a home in the 2700 block of Spring Beauty Lane, according to court documents.
Investigators said the vehicle's serial number matched the number of the Humvee reported stolen by the Missouri National Guard. Wilson reportedly told investigators he bought the vehicle but couldn't provide paperwork for the sale.
The court documents reveal Wilson later admitted to investigators he walked onto Camp Crowder in Neosho, Missouri, and drove out with the Humvee. Investigators said Wilson told them he had driven the Humvee around Cole County for several months.
Wilson has another pending Cole County case for tampering with a motor vehicle, according to court documents. The victim in that case is also the Missouri National Guard.
An arraignment hearing for Wilson is scheduled for Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
