Boone Health cuts ribbon on remodeled Centralia location
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Boone Health revealed its newly-remodeled clinic to Centralia on Tuesday.
The Centralia location now has a standalone lab with over 300 square feet with all new equipment. The hospital says it wanted to add a lab space for years and found the space in the past six months.
Officials say the new location will save local patients a 30-minute drive and provide more timely results. Boone Health says on average, its Centralia primary care serves anywhere from 30 to 60 patients daily.
The remodel also enhanced the attached ambulance space and EMT living quarters to help with 24/7 emergency operations. Boone Health says it had EMS at its Centralia location since 1987 and little to no work has been done over the years. Boone Health upgraded the flooring, redid the layout and enhanced the restroom and sleeping arrangements for the EMS crew.
The 24/7 EMS truck will serve northern Boone County and western Audrain County.
Drew Wilkinson, director of the laboratory, EMS and emergency department at Boone Health says the project took about three months to complete and cost the hospital around $230,000.
Boone Health said the lab draw clinic will open to the public on Wednesday. Its hours will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and appointments are not required.
