ABC 17 News wins two Murrow regional awards

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

ABC 17 News won two regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for breaking news coverage and sports reporting.

In the breaking news coverage category, ABC 17 won for its coverage of quadruple murder suspect, JT McLean.

ABC 17 won best sports coverage for a story about Helias senior wrestler Nikolai Careaga and his family's struggles with the loss of a child and brother.

Edward R. Murrow Award Winner 2022

The Murrow Awards recognize local and national news stories that uphold the RTDNA Code of Ethics, demonstrate technical expertise and exemplify the importance and impact of journalism as a service to the community. Regional winners advance to a national competition. Those awards will be announced in the summer.
