Just before 5 p.m. on Sunday, officers with the Jefferson City Police Department responded to a crash with injuries on northbound US 54 at MO 179.

An investigation revealed that a 1999 Ford E350 encountered traffic congestion, due to another crash ahead.

The driver, 55-year-old Teresa L. Miller was driving too fast and failed to negotiate the curve in the roadway.

Miller attempted to stop the car but it skidded off of the left-side of the roadway and hit the median cable.

Seven of the nine people in the car suffered injuries and four were transported to local hospitals for treatment by Cole County EMS. Those involved ranged in age from 10 to 74.

Traffic was restricted to one lane in this area while the crash was investigated.
