Missouri to release new weekly COVID-19 report amid drop in cases, hospitalizations

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services is set to release a new weekly COVID-19 activity report after the state cut back its COVID-19 reporting and entered the endemic phase of the pandemic on April 1.

The new activity reports are set to be released once a week on Friday. Missouri is cutting back from the everyday reporting the state health department had practiced during the pandemic.

In the first weekly activity report, reflecting the week of March 24 through March 30, Missouri saw cases and hospitalizations continue to drop throughout the state.

1,131 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the last week of March. That's down from Missouri's peak in the first week of January, where the state reported 92,264 new cases.

Hospitalizations throughout the pandemic in Missouri

Hospitalizations also continue to decline from Missouri's peak of 3,948 patients on Jan. 19. The state currently reports 477 patients in hospitals with COVID-19.

COVID-19 transmission levels in Missouri

Transmission levels throughout Missouri remain low, according to the latest activity report. Central Missouri reported a 15.9% decrease in new cases as of last week.
