Columbia mayoral, city council candidates to appear at events Wednesday

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia mayoral and city council candidates are set to appear at events Wednesday ahead of the April 5 election. Voters in Columbia will elect a new mayor, a new ward 4 councilperson, and possibly a new ward 3 councilperson.

The Columbia Chamber of Commerce will host a meet and greet with the candidates at 11:30 a.m. The event will be held at the Missouri State High School Activities Association located on 1 N. Keene St. in Columbia.

Mayoral and city council candidates will all be given time to speak to voters and answer questions. Columbia Public Schools Superintendent Brian Yearwood and Boone County Commissioner Janet Thompson will also speak about issues on the ballot.

Expected attendees include mayoral candidates Barbara Buffaloe, Tanya Heath, Randy Minchew, and David Seamon.

City Council candidates Nick Foster, Roy Lovelady, Erica Pefferman, and Karl Skala are also set to attend.

Mayoral and city council candidates are then also set to appear at a forum at the Columbia Public Library at 6:30 p.m.

Voters attending the forum in person will be required to wear masks.
