University of Missouri Board of Curators scheduled to meet amid search for new men’s basketball coach at MU

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The University of Missouri Board of Curators is scheduled to hold a special meeting Tuesday morning.

The announcement comes as the University of Missouri searches for a new men's head basketball coach.

Board members are set to meet virtually over Zoom at 7 a.m., according to a public notice issued on Monday morning. The board of curators is scheduled to enter an executive session at 7:10 a.m., which is closed to the public.

Missouri law requires board members to give a 24-hour notice before a meeting happens.

On Saturday, the ABC 17 Sports Team confirmed through a source MU is expected to hire Dennis Gates. He's currently Cleveland State's head men's basketball coach.

Mizzou fired former head coach Cuozno Martin on March 11. Martin went 78-77 with two NCAA Tournament appearances in five seasons before he was fired.

The UM System Board of Curators would need to approve the hiring of Gates before it can become official.
