Mizzou wrestler wins NCAA championship

DETROIT (KMIZ)

Mizzou wrestler Keegan O'Toole won the NCAA championship at 165 pounds on Saturday night.

O'Toole beat Stanford's Shane Griffith 6-5 in the finals. He's the first MU wrestler to win a national title since J'den Cox in 2017.

Also on Saturday - O'Toole's teammate Rocky Elam finished in fourth place at 197 pounds. That was good enough to earn All-American honors.

MU finished win ninth place as a team. It's the seventh straight season MU has placed in the Top 10. Here's the final standings.

  5. Nebraska — 59.5
  6. Northwestern — 57.5
  7. Cornell — 54.5
  8. Virginia Tech — 52.5
