Mizzou WBB to host WNIT opening round

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ

The Mizzou women's basketball team will host Drake on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the opening round of the WNIT.

If the Tigers win - they'll face the winner of Kansas City/Northern Iowa in the second round. Here's a link to the full bracket.

MU accepted its bid to the WNIT on Sunday night after missing out on the NCAA Tournament for a third straight year. The Tigers went 0-2 in the WNIT last season, falling to both Fresno State and Arizona State.

The Tigers have not won a postseason game since 2019. Coincidentally, that was a 77-76 overtime win over Drake in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

There are some interesting connections between the Tigers and Bulldogs this season. Former Tiger Grace Berg is a redshirt junior for Drake. Also, former Jefferson City star Hannah Nilges is in her first year with the Bulldogs.

Mizzou finished the season 18-12 overall and 7-9 in the SEC. The Tigers haven't played since losing to Arkansas in overtime in the SEC Tournament on March 3.
