COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Boone County judge has sentenced a Columbia man for a 2020 burglary.

According to public court records, Keith Brodie, 43, reached a plea deal with prosecutors on Monday. The judge sentenced Brodie to 13 years in prison for first-degree burglary, 13 years in prison for second-degree assault, and four years in prison for resisting arrest. The sentences are expected to be served concurrently.

The judge also recommended Brodie for a 120-day shock program. The Missouri Department of Corrections will determine if Brodie is eligible for the program.

Deputies say Brodie had a gun when he broke into a home in the 6200 block of Southwest Way on Feb. 20, 2020. Brodie reportedly shot once at a person when he tried to leave the home.

According to the Columbia Police Department, an officer shot at Brodie eight days later after he ran from investigators. A prosecutor decided not to charge the officer involved in the shooting in July 2020.

Investigators arrested Brodie in Syracuse, New York on May 11, 2020, on warrants from Missouri and New Jersey. Brodie was wanted in New Jersey for stalking and on suspicion of violating a court order.
