Panel approves new Missouri state house districts
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A panel of 20 in the Missouri House approved a new map for the chamber’s 163 seats.
All of the Boone County districts are now staying in Boone County rather than possibly being added to other counties.
House District 45 is now primarily south of Interstate 70 instead of running north and south.
House District 46 is now primarily north of I-70 instead of south of I-70 in southwest Columbia.
House District 47 is now in northwest Boone County instead of parts of Cooper, Boone and Randolph County.
House District 60 moves east along the river and Highway 50 before Osage City.
Pink lines are the new districts and the green lines are the previous house districts from 2010.
After the district changes, representatives will get a chance to meet new constituents.
David Tyson Smith announced his re-election after the new district announcement.
“I am pleased to announce today that I will be a candidate for re-election in House District 45 in the 2022 election, albeit with new boundaries, and look forward to reconnecting with current constituents to continue to earn their support, as well as to introduce myself to newly added voters in the district,” David Tyson Smith said.
