Three hurt after overnight crash on I-70 in Cooper County

COOPER COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Three men were hurt following a crash on Interstate 70 in Cooper County early Tuesday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 12:10 a.m. in the westbound lanes at the 91-mile marker.

Troopers said a van driven by Jerry D. Weller, 64, of Overland Park, Kansas, hit the back of a car that tried to pull onto I-70 from the shoulder. An ambulance took Weller to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries.

The driver of the car, Christopher M. Hicks, 35, of Lakewood, Colorado, and a passenger, Ryan R. Webb, 33, of Gillespie, Illinois, were both taken to University Hospital with serious injuries.

According to the crash report, Webb wasn't wearing a seat belt.
