Crews to clean up damage, restore power after Wednesday night storms

BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

An intersection in downtown Columbia is back open Thursday morning, after being closed due to a traffic light down in the road.

In Moberly, Morley Street is back open after a <a href="http://<iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FMoberlyPoliceDepartment%2Fposts%2F215242267456468&show_text=true&width=500" width="500" height="709" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="true" allow="autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share">tree fell and blocked off the entire road.

According to Boone County Joint Communications, the intersection at Seventh and Cherry was closed around 9:20 p.m. Drivers are asked to find a different route.

The signal fell during storms Wednesday night.

In Miller County, the Iberia Rural Fire Protection District and MoDOT crews responded to a tree on Highway 17 just north of the town. The agency posted a photo of the damage around 9 p.m. on its Facebook page.

Several power companies also reported outages across Mid-Missouri Wednesday night, with all but two customers in both Cooper and Pettis county reporting outages as of Thursday morning.

Boone Electric Cooperative reported three separate outages around 8:50 p.m. that affected 115 customers. A fourth outage was reported around 9:05 p.m. affecting another four customers.

Ameren reported multiple outages around 9:15 p.m. According to the outage map, seven outages affected 83 customers in Moberly. Outages were also reported near the city, with 10 customers affected between Moberly and Cairo.

Hundreds of Ameren customers lost power due to pole damage. The outage was reported around 8 p.m. between Moberly and Madison. According to the outage map, crews estimated a safe restoration time at 1 a.m. Thursday.

Just north of Madison, Ameren reported 525 customers without service. That outage also started around 8 p.m. but an estimated restoration time was unknown.
