No bond for Columbia man accused in downtown shooting

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Boone County judge denied bond Wednesday morning for a man accused in a Nov. 14 shooting outside a downtown nightclub that police labeled a "mass casualty" incident.

Judge Kim Shaw denied bond for Todd Nesbitt Jr. during a morning hearing. He had previously been jailed on a $5,000 cash-only bond. He remained in the Boone County Jail on Wednesday.

Five people were injured in the Downtown Columbia shooting. Quillian Jacobs, who they said was shooting back and forth with Nesbitt. Police said Quillian Jacobs was shooting back and forth with Nesbitt, and Quillian Jacobs was running south on North Fifth Street firing a weapon north into a crowd of people. Police chased Jacobs and shot and killed him at the scene.

Witnesses at the scene of the shooting told ABC 17 they heard around 50 shots go off. Crews saw multiple ambulances at the scene the night of the shooting.

Nesbitt is charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action along with a felony count of resisting arrest after police said Nesbitt ran from the scene of the shooting. Nesbitt is currently held in the Boone County Jail.

The bond hearing was originally scheduled for last week, but rescheduled to Wednesday because the bond investigation was not completed. Court records show a bond review done for Nesbitt recommended no change.

Previously, Nesbitt had been charged in July with third-degree domestic assault and had a warrant out for his arrest.
