MU student affairs to look at alcohol policies Thursday

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

MU Faculty Council is expected to look at alcohol policies and an alcohol study in response to the recent student alcohol poisoning incident.

On October 21, the University of Missouri halted all fraternity activities after a freshman was hospitalized with alcohol poisoning at a Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI) social event.

The university no longer recognizes Phi Gamma Delta as they declined to appeal the decision. If the fraternity wanted to come back, they would have to discuss with university officials, including those in Student Affairs and the Office of Student Accountability and Support.

On Tuesday, Student Affairs Committee Co-Chair Phillip Wood met with Cooper Drury to talk about both the alcohol poisoning incident and to talk about research done at MU to identify specific classes which appear to be difficult for some types of students.
