St. Louis County Jail guard taken to hospital after beating

KMIZ

CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) — Authorities say a female corrections officer at the St. Louis County Jail was taken to a hospital after a male inmate attacked her. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the guard was conscious and speaking Thursday after suffering serious injuries to her face and hands. St. Louis County spokesman Doug Moore said the attack happened Wednesday after the guard told the inmate that he had reached his time limit on a phone call and he refused to return to his cell. Another inmate stopped the beating. The county is not publicly releasing the guard’s name.
