TUESDAY UPDATES: Boone County reports active coronavirus cases remains below 250

The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services reported 35 new COVID-19 cases from Monday.

There are currently 241 active cases in the county and a total of 25,792 cases since the pandemic began.

The county reported 25,377 cases removed from isolation.

Boone County ranks ninth in the state with the most coronavirus cases in total volume in the past week. Cases are down 2.2% when comparing last week to the prior week. The county has a 5.5% positive test rate, according to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS).

The health department's hospital status is yellow with 52 COVID-19 patients in Boone County hospitals and 17 of them being Boone County residents. Of the 52 patients, 16 are in intensive care and nine are on ventilators.

The Missouri coronavirus vaccine dashboard reports that 105,056 residents have received their first dose in Boone County and 94,811 Boone County residents have completed their vaccine doses.

Boone County has the third-largest percentage of county residents in Missouri that have received at least one dose of the vaccine with 58.3%. The largest county in the state is St. Louis County with 61.1%.

Boone County is third in the state with a reported 52.6% of residents that have completed their coronavirus vaccine doses. St. Louis County is the first county in the state with 54.5% of residents having completed the doses for vaccination. The city of Joplin has 57.3% of the population fully vaccinated.

Cole County has the second-highest first vaccination rate in Mid-Missouri with 51.3%. Callaway County is third with 46.9%.

The Columbia Public Schools reports active coronavirus and quarantine cases to their website daily.

The district reported a 17.3 14-day rate per 10,000 for Monday.

CPS reports seven district facilities (four elementary schools, two middle schools and one district-wide facility) currently have staff out because of COVID-19. There are three staff members at elementary schools, one staff member at a middle school and three staff members at district-wide facilities. The district has one staff member at an elementary school and three staff members at a district-wide facility currently quarantined because of COVID.

The district reports 26 district facilities to have students currently out due to the coronavirus. There are 16 out of 21 elementary, six middle schools, three high schools and one district-wide facility is affected.

There are 23 students that have tested positive for COVID-19. The district is reporting 13 students in elementary, eight students in middle school, and two students in high school have tested positive for the coronavirus.

There are 132 students which are required to quarantine due to the coronavirus. The district reports 92 elementary students are currently quarantining, 25 students in middle school, 14 students in high school and one student in a district-wide facility.

Cole County reports one coronavirus-related death, 166 total since the pandemic began

The Cole County Health Department reported 50 new coronavirus cases from the weekend.

According to the dashboard update, there are 11,420 residential cases and 286 long-term care facility resident cases. That is 11,706 total cases in the county.

Cole County ranks 20th in the state for counties with the most coronavirus cases per 100,000 in the past week. Cases are down 5% when comparing last week to the prior week. The county has reported an 8.3% positivity test rate, according to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

The Missouri coronavirus vaccine dashboard reports about 51.3% of the county have initiated their first dose of the vaccine and 47% of the county's population have been fully vaccinated.

The Jefferson City School District reported no new coronavirus cases in students or staff members from Monday.

The district is reporting four active cases in students and no active cases in staff.

The district is reporting 56 close contacts for students and two close contacts for staff.

Missouri remains in the red zone; state profile report shows new cases up 5%

The newest State Profile Report shows Missouri remains at the high transmission level of COVID-19. The report shows new cases are up by 5% compared to last week with 117 cases per 100,000 people.

The report shows Missouri had 7,160 new cases of COVID-19 for the week of Nov. 5th.

The report also indicates 167 residents died from the coronavirus, a 65% increase from the previous week.

All but two mid-Missouri counties are reported as the high transmission level. The following counties are in orange (substantial transmission level) Camden, Montgomery and Saline County.

Over 69% of Missouri residents 18 years and old have received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine and more than 60% are considered fully vaccinated.

According to the report, over 98% of coronavirus cases are considered the Delta variant.

According to the report, 31 hospitals are dealing with staffing shortages, which account for 26% of hospitals in the state. Seven hospitals are currently dealing with supply shortages or six percent of all hospitals.

Vaccine rates are increasing slightly, 27,015 people 18 and older initiated vaccination last week which is 12% higher than the last report. 1,256 people 12-17 initiated vaccines last week, which is 3.4% lower than the last report.

A weekly review of deaths certificates found dozens of new COVID-19 related deaths in Missouri.

According to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, 96 new virus-related deaths were discovered during its weekly review of death certificates. All of the deaths identified in the review happened earlier this year.

The state health department also reported four new coronavirus-related deaths over the last 24 hours. Since the start of the pandemic, 12,325 people in Missouri have died from virus-related causes.

The state reported Tuesday more than 1,300 new cases of COVID-19.

According to DHSS, 926 people tested positive for the virus using PCR tests. That's above Missouri's daily average of 760 cases for the testing method.

Antigen testing in Missouri found 407 new probable coronavirus cases. Missouri's daily average for the testing method is 247 probable cases.

Data from the state health department showed Missouri's seven-day positivity rate remained unchanged over the last 24 hours at 6.9%.

Hospitals across the state reported 966 people are being treated for COVID-19. According to DHSS, 135 of those patients are on ventilators.

More than 3 million people in Missouri have finished the coronavirus vaccination process. That's 49.8% of Missouri's population.
