Sunday morning apartment fire in Jefferson City

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Jefferson City Fire Department responded to an apartment fire along the 500 block of East Elm Street on Sunday morning.

The department responded to the fire just after 1:30 a.m. on Sunday morning.

According to the release, multiple people were evacuated and fire crews rescued one pet from the building.

Fire crews determined the fire was accidental, started on the third floor of the building and caused moderate damage.

Four adults and seven children were displaced because of the apartment building fire and are being helped by the American Red Cross.
