Heritage Festival back in full swing after Covid-19 canceled last years events

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The 43rd annual Heritage festival was back in full swing this year after being canceled due to COVID-19 last year.

The event took place Sept. 18 and 19 at Nifong Park.

Cassie Brandt, Recreation Activist with the Columbia Parks and Recreation said the city felt like it was in a better place to hold the event this year. The festival returned without COVID restrictions.

"There are no guidelines in place so we are not requiring masks. Several vendors and participants have still chosen to wear masks," Brandt said.

Because of the pandemic and the city wide COVID-19 accordance restrictions, the festival was canceled last year.

"We weren't able to have the festival last year. It's a large festival, so it clearly was not safe," Brandt said.

The event had over 40 vendors, three stages of live entertainment, and several food vendors.
