Columbia man found guilty of second-degree murder in December 2019 shooting
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Columbia man was found guilty of second-degree murder and armed criminal action Wednesday for a December 2019 shooting at the Welcome Inn in Columbia.
Kevin J. Lambert shot and killed Marceino Carlous Moore after shooting him in the head. Moore's body was later discovered in a car in the Welcome Inn parking lot.
Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Chris Shelton said, "We can’t bring Marceino back, but I hope this verdict will allow his family to have some measure of closure and to begin the process of healing. I’m deeply grateful for their patience and support."
A jury deliberated for two hours before finding Lambert guilty.
Lambert faces a minimum of 10 and up to life for the second-degree murder conviction and a three-year minimum for the armed criminal action conviction.
Lambert was also convicted of murder in 2009. Colorado court records show that Lambert pleaded guilty to first-degree murder with "extreme indifference" stemming from a 2007 shooting in Colorado Springs. A judge sentenced him to 22 years in prison. Lambert qualified for parole in 2016, according to Colorado prison records.
