Columbia Regional Airport passengers increase by more than 386% in June

As the economy bounces back from the pandemic, Columbia Regional Airport is continuing to see a significant increase in travelers compared to 2020.

Compared to June 2020, COU saw a 386.6% increase in passengers in June 2021.

Even though passenger numbers are increasing, it still has not reached pre-pandemic levels. In June 2019, the total passengers flying was at 25,263, then in 2020, during the pandemic, numbers dropped down to 3,344. This year, the number of travelers jumped up to 15,669.

Wednesday, flyers will have the chance to get either the Pfizer or Johnson & Johnson vaccine at Columbia Regional Airport.

Walk-ins are welcome and anyone 12 and older is eligible for the shot.

The clinic is from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at building 280, which is north of the main terminal.

According to the Missouri vaccine dashboard, 45.4% of Missourians have initiated vaccination and 39.8% have completed vaccination.
