SUNDAY UPDATES: Missouri reports 228 new cases of COVID-19

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reported 228 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, bringing the total throughout the pandemic to 507,535.

The state also reported 79 news probable cases through antigen testing, pushing that total to 85,637.

No new deaths were reported on Sunday. The death toll in missouri stayed at 8,859.

Missouri's 7-day positivity rate dropped again slightly on Sunday to 3.9%.

In the state's healthcare system, 725 people are dealing with COVID-19 infections in hospitals. Of those, 148 are in the ICU and 84 are on ventilators.

As far as vaccinations, 39.6% of the state's population have at least one shot of the COVID-19 vaccine. That is 2,429,296 Missourians who have started the process.

Of those, 2,014,080 have finished the process, which is about 32.8% of the population.

As of Saturday, 4,306,297 doses of the vaccine against COVID-19 have been administered in the state.
