Coronavirus vaccine eligibility opens up to all Missouri residents on Friday
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
All adults and all adolescents meeting the vaccine eligibility requirements are now able to receive the coronavirus vaccine.
The Pfizer vaccine is currently approved for ages 16-year-old and above and both the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccine are approved for individuals who are at least 18-year-olds.
On Friday, the Boone County Health Department is holding a vaccination event at The Blue Note in Columbia from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Originally, the event was scheduled specifically for workers in the bar, restaurant and entertainment industries. The event is now opened to include any Missourian who wishes to receive a vaccine.
As of 7:15 a.m. there were still vaccination appointments available for the event. The Columbia Health Department said 60 appointments were still available as of 5 p.m. on Thursday night. A total of 250 vaccine appointments are slotted for the event according to the health department.
Individuals are also able to sign-up for vaccine appointments at Walmart, Hy-Vee, and Sam's Club. Vaccine providers in the state can be found on the state vaccination website here.
MU Health Care is also holding a mass vaccination event on April 15-17. Thousands of vaccines are allotted to be given out and appointments are currently available on their website.
According to the state dashboard, Boone County is currently the highest vaccinated jurisdiction in the state with 36.6% of the population receiving at least one dose of the vaccine.
