Mahomes reportedly to have surgery on injured toe

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will have foot surgery on Wednesday, according to a report from NFL.com.

Ian Rapoport tweeted, "Source: #Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes will undergo surgery tomorrow to repair a torn plantar plate in his foot, also known as turf toe. The rehab will be several months, but he’s expected to make a full recovery. Noted foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson will perform the procedure."

Mahomes and the Chiefs lost to Tampa Bay, 31-9, in Super Bowl LV on Sunday. The former league MVP failed to lead Kansas City on a single touchdown drive. Mahomes finished the game 26/49 for 270 yards and two interceptions.
