Tolton wins first ever cross country state championship

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Tolton boys cross country team won its first ever state championship on Friday.

The Blazers finished with a score of 92 points, which was well ahead of second place. Tolton's total time was 1:28:01.70 .

Tolton's Garrett Wilmes was the Blazers' top finisher. He came in eighth place with a time of 16:51.

New Bloomfield's Nathan Hinrichs was the top Mid-Missouri finisher in Class 2. He came in second place overall with a time of 16:15.

Also on Friday - the Moberly girls came in 8th place in Class 4. The Fulton boys came in 16th place in Class 4.

On Thursday - the Fatima boys cross country team won the Class 3 state championship. The Comets finished with a total time of 1:26:57.50.

The state cross country championships will continue on Saturday at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course.
