Thursday marks one year since Columbia woman last seen alive
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
It has now been one year since missing Columbia woman Mengqi Ji was last seen alive.
According to Ji's family's attorney, Amy Salladay, they are holding a virtual candlelight vigil Thursday night at 6 p.m.
Police are expected to resume searching for Ji's body in the Lamine River, which has been the focus of the search for months.
Here is a timeline in the case:
- Oct. 10, 2019: Ji was last seen in her home.
- Oct. 12, 2019: Joseph Elledge, Ji's husband, reported Ji missing.
- Oct. 26, 2019: Columbia Police Department arrested Elledge on a possible child abuse charge.
- Oct. 29, 2019: Elledge was formally charged in the child abuse case.
- Nov. 6, 2019: Elledge was named a prime suspect in the murder and disappearance of his wife by Boone County Prosecuting Attorney Dan Knight.
- Nov. 26, 2019: Authorities began searching the Lamine River in Cooper County.
- Feb. 19, 2020: Elledge was charged with murdering Ji.
- June 2020: Authorities called off the search in the Lamine River.
Elledge is scheduled to appear in court at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Boone County for both the child abuse and murder cases.
