Columbia City Council expected to discuss new health order
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Columbia's City Council is expected to meet tomorrow to discuss, among other topics, ratifying the city's health order.
The Columbia/Boone County Health Department extended the health order on Thursday and if ratified by council, will be extended through October 20th.
If ratified, the order would be extended through the University of Missouri's homecoming weekend, one of the busiest weekends of the year for the city.
Officials said they are now focusing on four key things that could directly effect cases in the city in the coming weeks.
Those include hospitalizations of people in Boone, the number of people in the county being tested, the return to learn plan and the true effects from Mizzou's first football game.
The council is also expected to discuss many other topics at the meeting tomorrow.
Options to provide enhanced fall protection and related self-harm deterrent measures for the Fifth Street and Walnut Street municipal parking structure are on the agenda.
The council will also be deciding whether or not to authorize a program services contract with the Missouri Department of Health and Human Services for Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity (ELC) CARES funding for case investigation, contact tracing, coordination and reporting activities associated with COVID-19 testing.
They'll also be expected to talk about authorizing a contract with the Missouri Department of Transportation-Highway Safety and Traffic Division for acceptance of a grant for a DWI traffic enforcement unit.
