Missouri State Highway Patrol reminding travelers to stay safe Labor Day Weekend

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Missouri State Highway Patrol sent a Tweet Thursday reminding drivers and boaters alike to stay safe and drive sober.

The Highway Patrol reported 298 crashes during the 2019 Labor Day Weekend resulting in 106 injuries.

Those crashes also resulted in seven deaths, which is down from the 16 killed over the 2018 holiday weekend.

On the waterways, Highway Patrol reported one boating death and six crashes, with no drownings.

Troopers made 95 driving while intoxicated arrests, and 93 drug arrests on the roadways.

They also arrested nine people for boating while intoxicated and another 27 drug arrests were made on the water.

In another Tweet, MSHP reminds drivers to buckle up, drive sober, pay attention, and obey all traffic laws.

They ask you call 1-800-525-5555 to report any crashes, drunk driving, or criminal activity.
