Health Department suspends Brookside Midtown’s operating permit for pool

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Columbia/Boone County Health Department suspended Brookside Midtown's operating permit for their pool Saturday morning.

The a spokesperson for the health department, Scott Clardy, said they have been there twice within the past 6 days since residents and guests were not following the current health order.

"We went back out today and found what I would call egregious conditions," he said.

The health department reported people were not social distancing. They were also walking around the pool area with drinks.

"This is a disappointing situation, we have rising case numbers and we have people acting irresponsibly and its just unfortunate that we have to do those kinds of things but in the end our priority is the health of all the community," Clardy said.

This is one of several complaints the health department has received about the apartment complex.

In order to open the pool back up brookside will have to make a plan to show they can follow the local health order.

“A plan or something about what they are going to do to make sure these things don’t happen again," Clardy said.

On June 12th, the health department alerted residents they may have been exposed to COVID-19 if they had been at the pool.

People who were at the pool that day were advised to monitor themselves for COVID-19 symptoms since they may have been in close contact with someone who was infectious at that time.
