JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Jefferson City School District announced Tuesday Shelby Scarbrough, its director of human resources, will be promoted to chief of learning.

Scarbrough will succeed Dr. Brian Shindorf, who plans to retire at the end of the 2019-2020 school year.

“I am tremendously excited for this opportunity to continue serving our district as Chief of Learning,” said Scarbrough in a press release. “Leading the Department of Human Resources has given me a unique perspective on what is required by our district to recruit and retain quality employees. As Chief of Learning, I can use that perspective to go a step further and work with intention on what is required to ensure we are continually providing the highest quality of education for our students in the classroom.”

Scarbrough is currently working on a doctorate degree in educational leadership and policy analysis at the University of Missouri. She has more than 25 years of experience in education and has served as the Jefferson City School District's HR director since 2017.

Scarbrough will assume the chief of learning position on July 1.
