Crews will continue to treat roads until roads are near normal
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Crews with Columbia Public Works and Boone County Road and Bridge continued treating roads Monday night.
Although there was little snow, road conditions still caused havoc for some drivers throughout the day. Boone County Joint Communications reported more than 15 crashes Monday.
Barry Dalton with Columbia Public Works said crews with Columbia Public Works would continue to treat roads until priority routes are near normal.
Public works warned drivers the low temperatures Monday were causing slick conditions.
Crews continue to work priority routes. Road temperatures are very cold leading to slick conditions. This is an active winter weather event. Please drive with extreme caution. pic.twitter.com/TgL9tyvrnE

Boone County Road and Bridge planned to have a crew report to work at 9 p.m. to continue treating roads.
"We'll be following up treatment on what we didn't get today," Edington said.
Director Greg Edington said the sunshine Monday afternoon helped to melt anything left on the roads.
He said the cold temperatures impact the effectiveness of salt, so crews will be using a salt-sand mix.
Edington said any areas that are covered and may not have seen sunlight could be slick overnight or into Tuesday morning.
