COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Boone County prosecutors charged a Columbia man Monday after he allegedly struck a baby with formula and assaulted another person.

According to court documents, Bryan Niswonger and another person were arguing when Niswonger struck a bottle of formula off the kitchen counter, which hit a child younger than 1 year old in the head.

Another person told investigators that Niswonger was destroying the house by throwing things everywhere, according to documents.

Investigators said they saw broken glass on the floor of the home, trash, aerosol sprays and other items "not fit for children" in reach of the child.

Court documents said the other person was taken to the hospital for injuries after Niswonger allegedly struck that person in the face multiple times.

Prosecutors charged Niswonger with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and domestic assault.

According to online court records, Niswonger's initial arraignment was held Monday afternoon.
