Court Documents: Fotoohighiam now eligible for bail
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Court documents filed in the 13th Judicial Court show Friday is the first day a man charged in Boone County with conspiracy to commit murder is eligible to be released on bail.
Mehrdad Fotoohighiam's bond was set at $5 million with a myriad of conditions. The bond conditions show that Fotoohighiam must have a court-approved home detention plan prior to his release. He also cannot leave the property for any reason without court approval and he is not allowed to use the internet.
The conditions say Fotoohighiam is not allowed to have contact with his family. Court documents say he cannot have contact with his wife and kids, Boone County Judge Jeff Harris, Marcia Green or their families. Fotoohighiam is also not allowed within 100 feet of the campuses of the University of Missouri or Rock Bridge High School.
If Fotoohighiam is released, he is expected to meet with his attorney and adult court services regularly. The bond conditions show he has to meet with his attorney every Friday without exception. He is also expected to meet with adult court services every Monday. Fotoohighiam must also surrender his U.S. and Iranian passports.
Fotoohighiam posted a $5 million bond in 2015 when police arrested him on suspicion of arson. Harris ordered Fotoohighiam go back to a jail a year later and forfeited his bond. The judge said Fotoohighiam violated the conditions of his release by asking a third party contact his ex-wife about his medication.
The Boone County Sheriff's Department accused Fotoohighiam of plotting to kill Harris while incarcerated in the county jail.
Fotoohighiam is currently being held in the Boone County Jail. He was charged with arson after authorities believed he paid two men to burn down his neighbor's house in 2014 over a land dispute.
In August, Fotoohighiam was acquitted of his arson charge. A jury trial is scheduled to start in June for attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
