Police investigate shooting in north Columbia

Police respond to the scene on
Riva Ridge Court

Columbia Police have confirmed a shooting happened on Riva Ridge Court off of Derby Ridge Drive.

ABC 17 Crews were told by Sergeant Patrick Corcoran they received multiple calls for shots fired around 9:22 pm.

Officers placed more than a dozen evidence markers on the ground and could be seen searching the ground with flashlights. They say shell casings were found on the ground and numerous witnesses have been identified.

One house was hit but no one was hurt, according to police. There is no suspect description. Corcoran said there were reports of a person running from the area.

Columbia Police and the Boone County Sheriff's Department both responded.
