RANDOLPH COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Randolph County Sheriff's Office warned citizens Friday of a scam referencing utility shutoffs.

In a Facebook post, the sheriff's office said calls outside normal business hours and requests for specific forms of payment should be a red flag for citizens.

Anyone with questions about how utility companies notify customers of shutoffs should call their utility company.
