Firefighters respond to house fire in Camdenton
A large fire damaged a home and a section of woods in west Camdenton on Thursday morning.
The Mid-County Fire Protection District posted on Facebook that crews were sent to the area of Cedar Heights Condos on Highway 54 around 12:57 a.m. On arrival, firefighters found a large fire burning in the woods on the hillside behind the condos. After searching, firefighters found a two-story home on fully engulfed in flames on Good Neighbors Lane.
Fire officials said it took an hour to bring the blaze under control. Firefighters said there are no fire hydrants in the are. As a result, tankers had to shuttle around 37,000 gallons of water to the scene.
The home was empty at the time of the fire. Officials said the structure is a total loss. Investigators are still trying to figure out the cause of the fire.
Crews cleared the scene by 5:30 a.m. Thursday.
