Emergency training exercise to be held at Missouri Capitol building

Missouri Capitol

First responders will hold a planned emergency response training exercise at the Missouri Capitol building on Friday, according to the Missouri Department of Public Safety .

"The training exercise will be conducted in a realistic manner, will be confined to specific areas of the Capitol, and could last several hours," said a DPS press release. "The exercise could lead to minor traffic restrictions in the immediate area of the Capitol building."

The department said Friday's exercise is part of an ongoing effort to boost multi-agency coordination in the event of a real emergency.

DPS said the exercise will not affect business at the state capitol and won't involve evacuations, special effects, or simulated injuries.

Signs will be posted around the capitol to notify people about the training.
