City of Centralia social media policies specific to city pages
The City of Centralia has policies specific to city employees’ use of social media and their use of work computers.
ABC 17 News crews looked at the city’s policies after Clint Baer, 41, of Centralia was fired from the police department.
The city’s policy on social media lays out rules for posting on city social media sites. For personal social media pages, city employees cannot post information about city policy or activities unless it is accurate and open to the public.
There is a list of prohibited topics, but it is specific to posts on City of Centralia social media sites.
Centralia also has a policy which prevents city employees from posting or looking at certain things on work computers. The policy said employees cannot commit any act chargeable as a violation of federal, state or local law.
City Administrator Heather Russell said the city has not investigated Baer’s work computer to see if he used it to try and make sexual contact with a minor.
ABC 17 News reached out to the U.S. Attorney’s office to see if anything illegal was found on Baer’s work computer but did not get an immediate response.
