State road closed near Centralia
The Missouri Department of Transportation says a state road near Centralia was closed Monday morning because of flooding.
MoDOT tweeted at 10 a.m. saying Route CC west of Centralia was closed due to water over the road at Long Branch. Nearly 4 inches of rain has fallen in the last 24 hours over areas of northern Boone County, according to National Weather Service reports.

ABC 17 Stormtrack radar estimates showed more than 5 inches of rain had fallen between midnight and noon Monday in northeast Boone County.
MoDOT Central District spokesman Adam Pulley said the closure was caused by heavy rain and the stretch of road is in a flood-prone area. The agency’s traveler information map will be updated when the road reopens, he said, and updates will be posted on the Central District social media accounts.
Heat was expected to be the big weather story Monday afternoon, with temperatures still expected to reach into the mid-90s with high humidity.
