Dangerous heat still on the way despite morning storms
MONDAY: Storms have set up between I-70 and HWY 36 this morning, and that will likely continue for the next few hours, which is why some of us are under a Flash Flood Watch until 10:00 this morning. These should start to dissipate toward midday, and usher in some dangerously hot weather this afternoon. Temperatures will still make it to near 100, and that humidity will make it feel closer toward 110. Be sure to stay hydrated, take frequent breaks if you’re outdoors, and always check the back seat before going in. Storms could return later this afternoon, but will likely hold off until tonight.
TONIGHT: This burst of heat will be relatively short-lived as a cold front will drop through later tonight, but will bring with it storm chances. Some of these could be strong with gusty winds accompanying them. Overnight lows only make it into the low 70s .
EXTENDED: That front will help cool us down to more seasonal norms the rest of the week. Wednesday and Thursday look spectacular to send those kids back to school with temperatures in the low 80s and plenty of sunshine. We’ll start warming back up toward the weekend.
