Crews to repair pavement on Ballenger Lane next week

Pavement repairs are scheduled to start Tuesday on a road in northeast Columbia.

Crews will repair the pavement on Ballenger Lane in front of the intersection of Pierre Street. The work is set to start at 7 a.m., weather permitting.

In order to complete the work, crews will close Pierre Street at Ballenger Lane. City officials said drivers can still get to Pierre Street by taking Waterloo Drive to Tremaine Drive.

According to a news release, the work is expected to be done on the same day by 4:30 p.m.

The work is related to the $2.2 million Ballenger Lane shoulder-widening project. The project is designed to provide a safer path for pedestrians. The city said the work will include six-foot wide shoulders on each side of the road, an asphalt overlay and stormwater improvements.
